Why relaxing on the beach is good for you

why relaxing on the beach is good for you

I’ve been in New Zealand for just under 3 years now and, during this time, I’ve spent more time on beaches than I probably have in the previous 52 years combined.

To be honest, I’d always been more of a fan of hills and mountains than beaches.

But I’ve discovered that relaxing on a beach makes me feel good.

So I did a bit of research and found 3 great reasons to spend even more time on the beach:

1 – Feel the Sand Beneath Your Feet

There’s something magical about sinking your toes into the warm, soft sand of a beach. This simple act connects you with the earth, grounding your body and calming your mind.

Studies suggest that grounding, also known as “earthing,” can reduce stress and inflammation by allowing your body to absorb negative electrons from the earth, promoting a sense of tranquility and balance.

2 – Immerse Yourself in Vitamin Sea

The soothing sound of waves crashing against the shore isn’t just music to your ears; it’s therapy for your soul.

Spending time near the ocean has been linked to numerous health benefits, thanks to its negative ions that increase serotonin levels, reducing stress and boosting mood. Breathing in the fresh sea air filled with negative ions can enhance oxygen flow, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

3 – Relaxation: Nature’s Ultimate Gift

Imagine lounging on a beach chair, feeling the gentle breeze caress your skin while basking in the warmth of the sun. This blissful state promotes relaxation, which is crucial for overall well-being.

Being in a beach environment encourages mindfulness and relaxation. It allows your mind to unwind from the hustle and bustle of daily life, leading to reduced anxiety and improved mental clarity.

In conclusion, the beach isn’t just a picturesque escape; it’s a sanctuary for your mind, body, and soul.

So, next time you’re planning a getaway, consider the therapeutic benefits of spending time relaxing on the beach. Embrace the serenity of the shore, and let the healing powers of nature work their magic on you.

Happy relaxing by the beach!
